Death Notes:

According to Herbert, Frances got sick in the earthquake of 1933 and later died in Duarte in the TB Ward.

Died at age 17 from tuberculosis.

Dene told the story about Frances and his dad. Just before she died dad thought she was being lazy and put her across his knee and spanked her. Not knowing she was dying of 'consumption.' It 'injured' his conscience to his dying day and became anecdotal family history.

Herbert says Frances was in Duarte for about a year before she died so Herbert doesn't go along with the above story.
