She may have predeceased her husband, William, who died in 1917. A listing of a William Gillis was found on the California Death Index, but no spouse initials were shown in his record, which may have been because she predeceased him. But that assumes that they only show spouse's initials if the spouse survived, which may not be the case. I also checked on 6/10/99 the series from 1930-1939 and found no Amanda Gillis. The data on William Gillis is a different person. Maria married William Wallace Gillies-[1337] [MRIN: 432], son of William Gillies-[2966] and Ann Weeks-[2967], on 25 Jul 1835 in Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan, U.S.A..1 (William Wallace Gillies-[1337] was born on 3 Aug 1829 in Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan, U.S.A. 3 5 6 and died on 22 Feb 1924 in Flint, Genesee Co., Michigan, U.S.A. 5 6.)
