  General Notes:

Sarah's maiden name is based upon the name of the father-in-law, James GODFREY, residing in the household during the 1881 census.

I don't know for sure that this Sarah was linked as the wife of John Lee and mother of Lucy Lee. However in the 1881 Census for Folkards Lane, Brightlingsea, Essex, there is a Sarah Lee, age 48, mariner's wife. Her husband is not listed. But there are children of Sarah, son Joseph, age 23, unmarried, mariner; son Robert, age 15, mariner; son Harry, age 12, scholar and daughter Ida, age 10, scholar. Lucy Lee, born 26 Mar 1865, would have been 16 years of age at the time of this census. Yet she was not listed. However, in the 1891 census of Brightlingsea on Folkards Lane, John Lee, master mariner, age 65, widower, is listed as living with his daughter Ida, age 20.   Marriage Notes:

The 1881 census shows Sarah Lee, age 48, as wife(head) of family including son Joseph, age 23, Robert, age 15, Harry, age 12 and daughter Ida, age 10.

In the 1891 census, Ida, age 20, is shown with her father, John Lee, a widower, age 65.

The marriage certificate of daughter Lucy gives name of father as John Lee.
